The mobile technology has taken the world by storm, because many people can’t see themselves, without a mobile device.
In today’s article, we are going to talk about, the two major radio systems used in cell phones.
The two major radio systems are known as CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) and GSM (Global System for Mobiles) .
Code Division Multiple Access, is not as popular as Global System for Mobiles; however two major cell phone services providers, use the CDMA technology in the United States of America.
The way that data is converted into radio waves; which are transmitted and received by CDMA handsets, are described by The CDMA technology.
Calls are stacked one on top of the other, when the CDMA technology is being used, by cell phones
The calls are being stacked on top of one another, when these calls are being transported through the air; in order to use all the available spectrum.
When the calls reach their destination, then these calls can be unpacked, and used by the cell phone.
The rate of dropped calls, are very low and simultaneous voice and data are not available, in cell phones; which use the CDMA technology.
In other words, if you would like to browse the Internet and talk on the phone, at the same time; you wouldn’t be able to do that with a cell phone, which uses the CDMA technology.
GMA seems to be a better route, for cell phone service providers, because of its popularity among the companies; which proves cell phone services, around the globe.
The GSM technology takes the available spectrum and divides it, into various time-based channels
The time based channels, can be used in order to place, multiple simultaneous calls; which makes the GMS technology superior to the CDMA technology.
GSM is known to describe a wireless communication standard, which was developed in the early 1980s.
The second-generation digital network, was supposed to be described by GSM; however, GSM is a term used to also describe 3G and 4G LTE standards.
GSM was developed to replace the 1G analog cellular networks, which were available to people, at the time.
The European Telecommunications Standard Institute, is the organization responsible of overseeing GSM, which is now a standard
Around the planet, more than seventy five percent of cell phone carriers, use the GSM technology; which should be good news, for most people, because they’ll get the most out of their money.
The carriers who provide the GSM technology, to their customers, are providing cell phone services; to over five billion potential customers, in more than two hundred and twelve countries, around the planet.
The internal components of devices, provided by handset manufactures, don’t have to continue to change, because of the GSM technology.
You will find that, there are good and bad CDMA and GSM networks; which means that the way the carrier builds its networks, will determine the quality of a call.
However, you should know, that a GSM carrier puts customer information on a removable SIM card; which makes it easier to swap phones, when you buy a new one.
